Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Coupling Connect collects, why we collect it, and what control you have over it. We've tried to write it in plain language rather than legalese.

Information we collect

Information you give us

• Account details — your name, email address, date of birth and gender.
• Your phone number — collected at sign-up but hidden from other members. It is shared with a match only after you have both met in person and both indicated you want to continue.
• Photos — the images you upload to your profile.
• Questionnaire answers — your must-haves and hope-to-haves, used to determine compatibility.
• Post-date feedback — whether you want to continue, and your reason if not. Your reason is never shown to the other person.

Information collected automatically

• Approximate location — used to show you people within your chosen search radius and to suggest date venues roughly halfway between you. We do not collect or display your street address.
• Usage data — how you interact with the app, so we can improve it and detect abuse.
• Device information — device type, operating system and app version.

Video calls

Video calls are carried over a third-party real-time service. Calls are not recorded or stored by us. We retain only the fact that a call was scheduled and whether each person attended, because that determines whether a strike applies.

How we use your information

• To match you with people who meet your criteria, and whose criteria you meet.
• To arrange video calls and suggest public venues for first dates.
• To operate the strike system and enforce our community rules.
• To keep the service safe, investigate reports, and prevent fraud and impersonation.
• To contact you about your account, matches and scheduled events.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

What other members can see

Other members see your first name, age, photos, and the parts of your profile you choose to display. They cannot see your email address, your exact location, your questionnaire answers, or the reason you gave for ending a match.

Your phone number is visible to another member only after you have both submitted positive feedback following a date.

Service providers

We rely on a small number of providers to run the service, including cloud hosting and database services, a real-time video calling provider, and a mapping and places provider used to suggest venues. These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

Your rights and choices

• Access and correction — you can view and edit your profile information at any time in the app.
• Deletion — you can delete your account, which removes your profile from the service. Some records may be retained where we are required to keep them, or where they relate to safety reports.
• Location — you can withdraw location permission through your device settings, though matching will no longer work correctly without it.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your data. Contact us and we will honour any right that applies to you.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. After deletion we remove your profile data, retaining only what is necessary for legal obligations, dispute resolution, or the enforcement of safety measures such as suspensions.

Age requirement

Coupling Connect is only for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete the account and its data.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls on our systems. No service can promise perfect security, but we take this seriously and act quickly when issues are found.

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes we will let you know in the app or by email before they take effect. The date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
